The Static Mixer is an equipment installed directly in the pipeline, capable of producing the desired mixture or dispersion through the passage of the fluid itself in its “fixed” elements. The products are mixed only by the energy present in the flow which, in contact with the fixed mixing elements, promotes their continuous redistribution and separation of the same. Pumps are necessary to create the energy present in the flow.
Static Mixers are used efficiently in continuous processes and present a wide range of applications in the most diverse sectors of the Industry, reducing the operational costs, since there are no moving parts and minimal wear.
In practical terms, small dimensions, low maintenance, simple installation and high reliability characterize the static mixer.
Static Mixers are basically composed by a housing (body) and elements fixed inside in a geometric pattern. This set (housing and elements) is inserted in sectors of the pipeline for the ingredients to be mixed.
In this way, the ingredients are transported through the piping in a continuous flow generated by pumps, in the case of liquids, or blowers, in the case of gases, and at the same time are mixed. Static mixing units are efficient both in simple mixtures and in heat and mass transfer operations or when chemical reactions are involved.
